French and Flirty Dining Chairs

I absolutely love french provincial furniture.  Some may say I like to abuse it because I'm not your typical shabby chicer.  I love dark, bold colors, but I also love the shabby chic details (ie. distressing, waxing, and vintage graphics).  I got these great cane back dining chairs at the thrift store.  Originally I had planned to only buy one (there were 2 available), well actually I did only buy one for my desk chair.  After painting it I put it against my dining room table and decided that I loved the color with my dining table (super unexpected) so I quickly ran back to the store and got the other one.  So now, they are not my desk chairs, but my dining chairs.  So long story longer,  I still need a chair for my desk.

I didn't snap a before picture, but I got them in primer stage

After primer I painted them Rustoleum Raspberry and added a neutral chenille that I got for $2 bucks a yard.

The reason I went with such a boring fabric was 1.) It was cheap and 2.) It needed to go with my other 2 patterned dining chairs.

Well, I didn't like it.  Too boring and didn't like the contrast.  So I picked up some iron on transfer paper and went over to The Graphics Fairy and found a vintage graphic that I liked.  I printed it out in reverse mode and ironed it right on to the chair seat.  Here is the result:

They probably would've come out better if I had done them before upholstering, but oh well.

I figure as they wear in this will look better.  I would show you how they look with my dining table, but I haven't even started painting it yet and I want you to get the full effect.

Lets see what you have been up to.  Link up your Furniture Projects to Furniture Friday.

Lately I have been on a kick for painting my furniture in bright colors, and it's nice to meet another bold sou.

    1. That is supposed to be "bold soul" -- this auto spell-correct thing makes me nuts.
