Guest Post: Lindsey from Junk in the Trunk Trio

Hello, I’m Lindsey from over at Junk in the Trunk Trio. My two girlfriends and I blog about our journey to find all things chippy, rusty, vintage & handmade to decorate our homes and about our daily quest as we run Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market. It’s a sweet little vintage market that we started last year in Phoenix, AZ. We have two upcoming shows this year and are excited about bringing creative vendors together who share our passions and who will introduce us to new ones. I have been in the process of decorating my Girlies room. Hadley my youngest is still sleeping in the bassinet in my room so we still have a little time to get it finished, or that's what I keep telling myself to not feel so bad about our progress. My husband and I had been on the hunt for a dresser for the Girls room for quite awhile, until we came across this beauty on craigslist a few weeks ago. Since the Girl's cribs are white and red I decided that I wanted the warm tones of the wood to shine, so we decided to restain the dresser and got our sand on. This was quite a chore to get in all the little crevices, but so worth the finished product.
Once we got her all sanded down, we then rubbed on a few coats of our trusty Minwax Dark Walnut stain.
And here she is in all her glory! I still need to find some great knobs and pulls to finish her off and to bring it up to the girls room. I'm having a tough time deciding what kind of knobs I should use? Any suggestions? Thanks again for having us.

Lindsey, it's been a pleasure having you.  Looks like you have some lucky little girls with one talented mama.  Head over to their blog to see all their fun projects.

  1. Well you could always add that feminine touch and go with vintage looking GLASS bin pulls. They come in quite a few colors or just clear at VanDykes Restorers.

  2. I like the idea of vintage glass too or maybe some hand painted knobs or offers some very affordable flower styled pulls. If you don't like the colors they have they can be painted too.

On another note, I am having trouble reading this post because of an add that I am unable to move or remove. Just so you know.

  3. Thanks for mentioning about the ads and about, without having a Hobby Lobby near by finding awesome knobs has been a bit of a challenge. Although I found some really great purple glass looking ones recently at Ross of all places.

  4. Hmm, when it comes to pulls, that's always a tough call. What is the rest of the decor like in the girls bedroom? Since the dresser itself is so beautiful, maybe something simplistic like a brushed nickle pull, and matching knobs for the little drawers. I love the idea of the juxtaposition of vintage vs. a little modern.
