Guest Post: Lindsey from Junk in the Trunk Trio

Hello, I’m Lindsey from over at Junk in the Trunk Trio. My two girlfriends and I blog about our journey to find all things chippy, rusty, vintage & handmade to decorate our homes and about our daily quest as we run Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market. It’s a sweet little vintage market that we started last year in Phoenix, AZ. We have two upcoming shows this year and are excited about bringing creative vendors together who share our passions and who will introduce us to new ones. I have been in the process of decorating my Girlies room. Hadley my youngest is still sleeping in the bassinet in my room so we still have a little time to get it finished, or that's what I keep telling myself to not feel so bad about our progress. My husband and I had been on the hunt for a dresser for the Girls room for quite awhile, until we came across this beauty on craigslist a few weeks ago. Since the Girl's cribs are white and red I decided that I wanted the warm tones of the wood to shine, so we decided to restain the dresser and got our sand on. This was quite a chore to get in all the little crevices, but so worth the finished product.
Once we got her all sanded down, we then rubbed on a few coats of our trusty Minwax Dark Walnut stain.
And here she is in all her glory! I still need to find some great knobs and pulls to finish her off and to bring it up to the girls room. I'm having a tough time deciding what kind of knobs I should use? Any suggestions? Thanks again for having us.
Lindsey

Weekend Featured #5

Saturday has rolled around and I am going to enjoy the beautiful California weather.  It's a good day for a bike ride.  Can you believe my garage is officially empty of unfinished pieces?  I guess its time to go shopping.  Either that or I can start on some of the unfinished pieces I have sitting in my house, or I can repaint that white coffee table that my kids mistook for a dry erase board.  Hmmmm....what to do?  Anyhoo, here are some great things I've seen this week in the blogosphere.  I'm in a yellow mood this week.  Hope you don't mind.

Look how great this Hutch "Surgery" came out.

And this Hooiser cabinet may seem unsalvageable to some, but had a lot of life left in it.

This french dining table with a bold color.

and a couple of my favorite yellow pins

What colors are you into right now?

Furniture Friday #5

Good day all.  Welcome to another edition of Furniture Friday.  I've been working on doing some promoting this week for our shop and our blog, but other than that its the same ole.  We picked up these two wonderful furniture pieces this week that were originally a set, but Elaine needed one of them, it was the perfect size for her, so we decided to split them up.  I lovedthe lines of these dressers.  Here is what hers looked like before.

and here is what it looks like now.

Isn't it purrr...deeee?
It looks fab in her bedrrom.  She used a two tone technique with both gold and silver.  Gives her room more of a glam vibe.

Here is it's match, the 6 drawer version before.

I used a Tiffany Blue with a metallic glaze to give it a bit of shimmer.  I love the way this dresser turned out.

If I didn't already have my red wrapping paper dresser in my bedroom, I might just keep it myself.
See you tomorrow for weekend features.

Living Room and Office Bargains

I went bargain hunting for dining room chairs last week.  Well if you want to get official about it they were for my office where my husband insist loves to share my space.  Vacation time means that I am forced honored with sharing more time with him.  Anyway, it meant that I needed two chairs for my desk which is really a dining room table.  I found these great cutback dining chairs at Target for $159.00 with free shipping.  They are now $229.00 so $70 bucks off was awesome.  With all my yard sale relics some new stuff was in order.

I absolutely love them.  They are comfortable and stylish.  I figured while I was at it I would pick up a Farmhouse Bench, this way if I have company over I can remove my imac from the desk and have seating for 4-6 without taking up to much visual space. The Bench was on sale for $50.00, but I have yet to paint and restain it so a photo is not yet available (don't worry you will get the before and after).   I also picked up this great picture for my living room.  I loved it because it was very similar (same artist I think) to the one above my fireplace. I always recommend grabbing clearance pillows even if they are not what you want because at that price they are great for recovering the cushion.

What did you score on this week?
