I recently finished a dresser for a client. A good quality Thomasville Dresser. I say big and beastly because this thing must have weighed over 200 pounds.
I say beautiful because the lines of this dresser are just amazing, with great trim work and detail. I say red because that is exactly what the customer wanted a distressed red.
I used Rustoleum colonial red satin for this dresser. It's an amazing color.
Then I went crazy on the distressing.
I have to be quite honest, I wasn't sure if I was going to like the finished product when I was done, but obviously in this case the customer had a better eye than I did because I love it. I have to admit it is one of my favorite pieces to date.
With this hardware I guess I had imagined something more french shabby chic like a washed blue. What was I thinking? The contrast of this farmhouse color and the hardware is awesome.
This is why I absolutely love doing custom pieces, because you never know what you are capable of if you leave it in someone else's hands.

I just have to say thank you for giving me the courage to paint my Thomasville pieces. I have a whole bedroom set that is one huge yawn. Paint may be the temporary answer until I can justify new furniture. Thanks for sharing your redo on BeColorful this week.
