Furniture Friday 22

Welcome to summer and this edition of Furniture Friday.

Anyone want to do a blog hop with me?  I'd love to see this party grow and get more people to visit.  After blogging for over a year, I'm still figuring it out little by little.  Everyday I learn something new.

This week my chair was featured at Apartment Therapy, so that's exciting news.

Here are some favs from last weeks party:

This vanity got a blue aged look via Shelly Chic

An outdoor chair gets a facelift via Rad Crafter

and this wonderful hand painted and wood burned wine cabinet via Be Colorful.

Big Red Beautiful Beastly Dresser

I recently finished a dresser for a client.  A good quality Thomasville Dresser.  I say big and beastly because this thing must have weighed over 200 pounds.

I say beautiful because the lines of this dresser are just amazing, with great trim work and detail.  I say red because that is exactly what the customer wanted a distressed red.
I used Rustoleum colonial red satin  for this dresser.  It's an amazing color.
Then I went crazy on the distressing.
I have to be quite honest, I wasn't sure if I was going to like the finished product when I was done, but obviously in this case the customer had a better eye than I did because I love it.  I have to admit it is one of my favorite pieces to date.
With this hardware I guess I had imagined something more french shabby chic like a washed blue.  What was I thinking?  The contrast of this farmhouse color and the hardware is awesome.
This is why I absolutely love doing custom pieces, because you never know what you are capable of if you leave it in someone else's hands.

The Tuxedo Dresser

Isn't she pretty?
Sometimes I wonder why I let things sit in my garage for so long before taking a paint brush to them.  This thing was in our antique space just like this:

It didn't sell so it ended up in my garage.  It sat, and sat, and sat.  I was waiting for someone to pick a color because it was such a beautiful piece.  It stayed listed in my Etsy shop unnoticed.

Well I decided to paint it.  I still stuck with the two tone scheme, but went bold with a black and white. Within an hour of relisting it in my shop it had almost 300 views.
I gave the medallion a little shabby chic vibe.

It looks so pretty in this Romantic French Treasury

Front Door Update

I can't really say I ever have anything on my front door, but after looking at all of your pretty wreaths and front door decorations in blogland over the past year, I've decided to take the plunge.

Look at what I put on my front door.

I was totally attracted to the colors.
Not your typical front door wreath, its metal.
A little bling in the middle to finish it off.
